Xiaofang Yao is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Computational Social Science at the Swinburne Node of the ADM+S Centre. Her research focuses on how emotions, power relations and identities are materialised through semiotic practices and within multimodal discourses circulating in public spaces, both physical and digital.
She is currently working on developing models and frameworks for responsible data sharing and building data literacies in the community and not-for-profit sector. Her research agenda is to bridge computational methods with studies of language and culture in society.
