Robyn Caplan (PhD) is a Researcher at Data & Society. She conducts research at the intersection of platform governance and media policy. Her work takes an organizational approach towards understanding the development of content standards by platforms, looking specifically at the role platforms are playing in mediating between different stakeholder groups in the creation and enforcement of content policies.
Her most recent work is examining the role verification will play in the future of platform governance.
Her work has been published such journals as Social Media + Society, First Monday, Big Data & Society, and Feminist Media Studies. She has had editorials featured in The New York Times, and her work has been featured by NBC News THINK and Al Jazeera.
