MONIKA ZALNIERIUTE
Monika Zalnieriute joined the ADM+S Centre in April 2021. Monika is a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Law & Justice at UNSW Sydney and currently holds an ARC Discovery Early Career Research Award (DECRA) Fellowship.
Monika’s research explores the interplay between law, technology, and politics, and focuses on automated decision-making, Internet policy, data privacy and discrimination law, and human rights in the digital age. Her work also addresses intersections among feminist and decolonial theories and LGBTI rights.
At UNSW Sydney, Monika leads a research Stream ‘AI and Law’ at Allens Hub for Technology, Law and Innovation where she works on many cutting-edge projects, with direct relevance and impact on policy making in Australia and internationally, including ICANN, WHO, and United Nations Internet Governance Forum.
Monika’s latest projects include partnerships with London School of Economics and Georgia Institute of Technology on research on facial recognition technologies, and collaboration with the Australiasian Institute of Judicial Administration to study impact of AI decision-making on courts.
