Have you recently worked in an e-commerce warehouse or fulfilment centre? Did you have any positive or negative experiences involving automation? We want to speak to you!
We are researchers looking to interview e-commerce warehouse workers about their experiences of automation in the workplace. This includes any technology that measures and manages information about how fast you work, how you move your body while working, how your performance is assessed, or that automatically assigns tasks and shifts to you based on data collected by your employer.
These interviews will be short (1 hour or less) and your comments will be completely anonymous. This means that nothing that identifies you (like your name, address, or place of work) will be shared with anyone outside of the research group, including your employer. You do not need your employer’s permission to participate.
All research in Australia that involves collecting data about people is reviewed by an independent group called a Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC). This research project has been approved by the Monash University HREC (Project ID: 30272) to ensure that it complies with the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research (2007). This statement has been developed to protect the interests of people who agree to participate in research studies.
All research participants will receive information about the project and a consent form to sign before taking part in interviews. Participation is completely voluntary and you can withdraw your consent at any time. If you have any concerns about participating, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with any members of the research team.
